Features > Make your website sticky
For your site to succeed, you need visitors - but more than that,
you need your visitors to visit again - To bookmark your site and
tell their friends. You can spend time and money promoting your
site your site, but if visitors aren't compelled to stay and look
around, then in print terms, it's straight in the bin!
5 tips to make your site stickier and your visitors
clickier!
Freebies
Include free interactive tools relevant to your service and product
- a currency converter for travel sites or insurance, a mortgage
calculator for estate agents. Or if your company supplies a product,
offer a free sample or trial, screen saver or CD-ROM. In return,
ask for details and permission for the users to be included on a
mailing list.
Chat and Message Boards
Build your own community. By letting users interact and add their
own views and content, you can generate repeat visits and increase
the information on your site. Act as a moderator and keep the content
useful and relevant.
Newsletters
Give users a reason to subscribe - a sample of past articles or
a monthly competition. Again the key to a successful newsletter
is relevant, useful content.
Link Exchange
Make it easy for other sites to link to you. Provide different
banners, buttons or links so other website owners can link to your
site. Include HTML code too, so it's easy to copy and paste the
link or graphics into their site.
Tell a Friend
Make it easy for people to send pages of your site to friends.
Add a clear link or icon that the user can click to send the page
to someone they know. Keep it simple - the user should just add
the name and email address of the recipient.
